Smoked Out Garlic Hummus

I think garlic might be the most loved herb on the planet. However, many gloss over the its healing abilities and even over-use the herb making for an over-stimulating experience. This recipe incorporates just the right amount of garlic to enhance heart health, and even adds a bit of black pepper in order to “agitate” the herbal properties just enough to offer immune, inulin, and prebiotic support.

You’ll need:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas

  • 1/2 cup tahini

  • at least 1/4 cup of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)

  • 6 garlic cloves (or 2 tbsp of minced garlic)

  • 2 tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 3 tbsp key lime juice

  • 1 tsp himalayan pink salt (or substitute with liquid aminos)

  • optional - 1/8 tsp of cayenne powder or 1 fresh cayenne

Make it:

  1. Drain the chickpeas and set aside liquid from it. Place all the ingredients except that liquid into your food processor. With the food processor running, slowly add the liquid from your can of chickpeas until you get a smooth texture.

  2. You’re done! Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle EVOO on top. You can even sprinkle a bit of paprika on top as well. Store the hummus in a fridge and make sure to eat it within a week.
